The Danish Open is played at the Hvidovre Curling Club, 15 mins. from the center of Copenhagen and close to Copenhagen International airport.
6 teams play in one pool, and the 4 best advances to the semi-final.
The tournament is played according to the World Curling Federation rules and applies the five-rock rule as well as the no tick rule.
There will be a 5 min. warm-up for each team prior to each game, starting with the team mentioned first in the program (red rocks). The warm up starts 15 mins. prior to the scheduled game time.
After the teams warm-up, the 2 LSD’s are thrown right after the warm-up for each team and will be measured by the umpires. The best score has the choice of hammer in the first end. An accumulated LSD score (worst LSDs are deducted) is calculated at the end of the group play, to break possible ties. Each player must play two LSD’s: one with either turn. LSD starts with clockwise rotation followed by anti-clockwise.
Teams are ranked in the group after:
In the play-off the highest ranked team from the group stage has the right to chose hammer. If 2 teams from different groups play each other and have the same ranking in their respective groups, they will be ranked after DSC.
Play-off:
1-4: As ranked in the group stage
The highest ranked team from the group stage has the choice of hammer in all the playoff games.
First team in the schedule plays first stones and red color. All matches are played over 8 ends with an extra end if necessary. If no points scored are in the extra end the teams will play one draw to the button for the game. The team with the hammer in the extra will throw the first draw. Free choice of turn for the first team. The opposing team plays the opposite turn. Games are not timed, so please ensure a good pace, so we can stick to the schedule.
